Our Promise to You
We are always available to our valued customers. A live receptionist will always answer your call during business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the exception of holidays. After scheduling an appointment, you can count on Burr Roofing, Siding & Windows to show up on time and prepared. If there is a change in our schedule, you will be notified beforehand. Yes, at times exterior remodeling can be overwhelming, but we will provide you with all of the tools and information needed to act as a construction expert while investing your money and time in our services.
Step One: The Measure Call
The measure call is the first step towards achieving your remodeling goals. We will contact you no more than 24 hours after we receive your request for an estimate to schedule a free, no-obligation consultation. On the day of the measure call, someone must be on the property to show our Project Consultant what your home needs and begin to figure out how it fits into your budget. In addition, we will collect measurements and photos of the property to use for an estimate and design purposes. Please set aside approximately one hour for this appointment. After the measure call is completed, your Project Consultant will construct a proposal to include anything discussed on site.
Step Two: The Proposal
Since 1969, we have taken pride in the long-term relationships created with our valued customers. For this reason, we take the time to sit down and thoroughly discuss each detail of your future project. Communicating with our specialists face to face, rather than over email or phone call, ensures that you have the best understanding of our dedication to your “Life Improving Home Improvement”. While it may seem excessive at face value, every customer has said that it is time well spent.
The proposal meeting may take place in your home, but most clients prefer to meet in our office space conveniently located right off exit 31 on I-95 at 11 Corinthian Avenue, Stratford, CT. Our newly renovated Design Center features nearly all of our product offerings in real size, including various profiles, finishes, exposures and colors, both inside, and outside in natural light. We will conduct a general walkthrough, introducing you to the available products, in person. This allows you to become more familiar with your options, and your future investment, giving you the tools to design the perfect custom exterior for your lifestyle and home. We will focus on your desired aesthetic, level of maintenance, and realistic budget, while setting expectations for your remodel.
Previous customers have found this in-person interaction to be extremely beneficial during the design period. Being in our Design Center, with products installed on the wall, combined with large display screens, where we can pull up 1,000’s of photos of past projects, makes choosing the right “Life Improving Home Improvement” easy and fun!
The proposal meeting will be as brief or detailed as you desire, typically lasting two hours, so please plan accordingly; it takes time to build something truly beautiful. We will spend this time to discuss and finalize all project details, including current problems found at the job site, good-better-best solution options, property protection guidelines, and our clean up provisions.
At this time, it is your Project Consultant’s goal to ensure that you are completely comfortable with the scope of work while answering any questions about the process you may have
Step Three: The Decision
At this point in the meeting process, you will receive a final draft of the proposal, including any design changes that may have been discussed at the proposal meeting. This document will include pricing for your remodel, based on the desired scope of work. Once you have made your decision to hire Burr and sign the agreement, you will reserve your spot on the schedule. You will be offered a “Same as Cash” financing option. You also have the option to use cash, personal checks, VISA or MasterCard.
Step Four: Pre-Construction Meeting
There will be a window of time between signing your contract, and the start of your remodel, allowing memories to fade on prior decisions. The pre-construction meeting serves as a refresher, verifying previous discussions. It is often said that every hour of pre-construction work spent before the project begins saves two hours of work during the project. It always pays to be prepared.
Woody and Maria, our Marketing & Customer Experience Manager, will visit your home to review the nuts and bolts of your remodel. As acting Operations Manager, Woody will focus on the logistics of your remodel, from start to finish. He will ensure that what you think you bought, what the paperwork says, and what we are doing are all in alignment, avoiding any future misconceptions. Before leaving, Woody will re-measure your home, providing a higher degree of accuracy and detail for ordering and production purposes. This pre-construction meeting is a critical step to completing your “Life Improving Home Improvement” with ease.
Step Five: Construction
In the weeks leading to the start of construction, we will keep you updated as we hone in on your start date. Please keep in mind, we schedule according to workdays, rather than business days. This simply means that when we are unable to work due to inclement weather, your project start date will be postponed by one day. Please note that Burr is dedicated to commencing your project within the targeted start date range, weather permitting.
Your Operations Manager will keep you up to date on the status of your project. We will maintain contact with you leading up to the start date and throughout the project to ensure your 100% satisfaction. In addition, you can call Burr 24/7 if an emergency situation arises pertaining to your project. On a day to day basis, your Operations Manager will make sure your installation is held to the highest industry standards, as laid out by all of the product manufacturers.
Unlike many home improvement companies, our work crews are comprised of professionals who only work in their respective trades, ensuring you receive the highest quality craftsmanship. Our expert installers are divided into roofers, siding crews, and carpenters who handle window, door and deck installations. Crews will be made aware of any exceptional property protection concerns you may have, making every effort to protect your property and return it to its pre-construction state, after completion.
If there is a need for any additional work, not outlined in the proposal, we will contact you immediately with specifics on the scope of work and the cost before proceeding. At the end of each day, your Operations Manager will give you an update on what has been completed and what is to come. You can choose whether to communicate daily over the phone or by group text. Many past clients have favored the group text option, putting everything in writing to avoid confusion down the road.
Step Six: Completion
Upon project completion, your Operations Manager will answer any questions you may have, and make sure you are pleased with the final product. We are 100% committed to your 100% satisfaction; the job is not finished until you say so. Once we receive final payment, we will close out all building permits. Within a few weeks, you will receive your extensive workmanship warranty from Burr and any applicable manufacturer’s warranty.
