There is a sense of pride, satisfaction, and beauty that windows extend into your physical living space. Before investing your hard-earned money into windows, it is important to understand the facts.

Our goal at Burr Roofing, Siding, & Windows is to make you as comfortable as possible with your investment. Becoming acquainted with your options will bring you peace of mind when it comes time to write that check.

Now, let’s dive into the fundamental differences between new construction and replacement windows to clear up some of those questions.

Replacement windows are installed into a pre-existing opening, designed to avoid having to remove any exterior materials. This option allows the Burr team to install your windows from the inside of your home without causing significant damage to the wall, window trim, or siding.

Although the replacement process is quicker and less invasive, it may not always be the best option. Replacement windows may have a smaller opening-to-glass ratio because the new window must fit inside of the existing wood frame.

Alternatively, new construction windows are designed for homes that have yet to be constructed or used in the instances where an existing window must be removed, exposing the wall studs before being replaced.

When it comes to new construction windows everything is replaced including the framing and both interior and exterior sills. Many homeowners will choose to install new construction windows in conjunction with a siding project because the exterior is already being altered.

This gives our team the opportunity to get rid of any rot that may have been hiding, replacing everything with new PVC trim. PVC is much more durable than wood and will not be subject to rot.
