The expert team at Burr Roofing, Siding, & Windows tore off all original cedar siding to install 6" exposure Smooth HardiePlank in Navajo Beige, paired with AZEK trim. The original siding on the home was cracking extensively and was bound to worsen over time. Due to its' age, the paint was peeling severely and would not hold another layer of paint. Thankfully, this homeowner made the right investment in James Hardie fiber cement siding which does not need to be painted every 3-5 years like cedar. Instead, the ColorPlus Technology developed by Hardie allows the color to be baked onto the board during manufacturing. This makes for a low-maintenance, high-aesthetic exterior.

The beauty of wood without the vulnerability

Fiber cement siding will always be popular for its incredible versatility. It can be startling how well it imitates other materials though. Sometimes it even seems to look better than the original!

Fiber Cement Siding

Frequently asked questions

  • What is fiber cement siding?

Fiber cement is a composite material made from cement, sand, and cellulose fibers. This material forms a very strong, durable finished product that works perfectly as a home siding material. While fiber cement siding is a bit heavier than other siding types, it also offers a wide array of benefits that make it popular with homeowners.

  • What's the greatest strength of fiber cement siding?

The greatest strength of fiber cement is likely its versatility. Specifically, fiber cement siding can replicate almost any siding material including wood and shingles. This versatility lets you enjoy the durability, longevity, and affordability of fiber cement siding while getting the appearance of wood or another siding material.

  • How durable is fiber cement siding?

Because fiber cement siding is a bit heavier than other siding types it is quite strong and long lasting. Even severe weather and fire don't do much to fiber cement siding. Since fiber cement siding can replicate the looks of other materials while still retaining its durability, many homeowners prefer it to wood and other potentially more vulnerable materials.

  • How customizable is fiber cement siding?

Fiber cement siding is highly customizable. Do you have a particular color in mind? Fiber cement siding can be painted any color you want before it's installed. Eventually it will need to be repainted, but you have the ability to choose whatever custom design you desire.
